Prospective Member's Mailbag

Do I need a sponsor to join?

No, sponsors are not required to join.  Prospective members will have an advisor throughout the first year to help them get acquainted with JWC and its members.

How much are membership dues?

Membership dues are paid annually in April and are $70 per year.

What is the difference between Departments and Committees?

JWC has 6 departments: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International/Public Affairs and Ways and Means.  Each member belongs to one department for a club year.  In the following year a member rotates to another department, so eventually a member serves in every department in the club.

Our committees work with special projects throughout the year that the entire club focuses on OR internal functions within the club to assist the overall membership, such as Phone Committee who makes phone calls when we need to get a message out to all our members quickly.  Another example is the State Tree Lighting Committee which assists in gathering and organizing resources for that event.

When does the club convene?

The club meets between August and May of each year and has the summer off.
